5 Ways Christians can Witness in the Workplace

pastorjoe6

One of the biggest blessings of being a bi-vocational pastor is working and gaining experience in secular and nonsecular arenas.

Being bi-vocational has made me a better pastor, as I can empathize with the daily events of the people I serve at Image Church.

One thing pastors must impress upon their people is that everyone is in ministry. It is not solely the Pastor's job to reach, teach, and grow; everyone is involved in the great commission.

Without this mindset, people may miss out on the best opportunity to be a witness for Christ in the workplace. We spend more time in the workplace than we do at home. And we come across more lost people. People may never come to your church, but they can see Christ through your work and witness on the job.

Here are some ways we can allow people to see God at work:

  1. See God through your Warmth - How we treat people shows our relationship with God, which is vertical and horizontal. John said we cannot say we love God and hate people.

  2. See God through your Work Ethic - Christians must be some of the most diligent workers in the company. Why? Paul said that we are to work as though we are working for the Lord, not man. We should not aim to be people pleasers but God pleasers. Knowing that God is your ultimate manager should encourage you to work diligently.

  3. See God through your Words—We believers should not curse, gossip, be negative, pessimistic, sarcastic, etc. Instead, we should use our words to encourage one another and build up the organization.

  4. See God through your witness - There will be a window to share your faith on the job. This does not mean starting a Zoom meeting with scriptures. God will open doors for you to share your faith. Be open to his voice.

  5. See God through "Being Willing" - Remember, Jesus came to serve, not to be served. Be ready to serve, help, and take on tasks positively.

I hope this is helpful to you. We believers should not waste our witness. The workplace is an excellent opportunity to share Christ.
